Hedgehogs are small animals with a prickly coats. They are naturally nocturnal and found in Asia, Europe, and Africa. They are exotic pets buts are illegal in some states or countries. Hedgehogs’ natural meals are beetles, caterpillars, earthworms, fly larvae, millipedes, and earwigs.
Sourcing these natural meals for your hedgehog might be quite difficult. However, they are opportunistic feeders and you can feed them these alternative meals:
- Fresh fruits. (Avoid dry fruit).
- Fresh vegetables like tomatoes and green beans are edible. Dried vegetables, carrots, potatoes, and starchy vegetables should be avoided.
- Cooked meat and chicken.
- Cooked eggs.
- Low-fat dog/cat food.
- Hedgehog kibble. Cat kibble can be used as an alternative if hedgehog kibble is not available.
