Dogs do communicate emotions like humans. One of the ways they do this is through the position of the ears. Other means of showing how they feel include their facial expressions, the position of the tail, and general body placement

However, understanding a dog’s emotion through the position of the ear is more difficult compared to other body languages. Thus, it is important to interpret your dog’s emotions when they pull its ear backward alongside other body signals.

Some of the emotions your dog is communicating when the ear is pulled backward include:

  • Fear.
  • Anxiety.
  • Sadness.
  • Contentment.
  • Warning or Danger.
  • Sickness or Injury.
  • Listening or Submission.
  • Courting.

There are many signals your dog communicates daily. It is advisable to pay attention to your dog’s body language so you can understand your furry friend better.
